New works by Eric Baskauskas demonstrate through bright colors, loud sounds, and painted relics of suburbia our mysterious, undefined, and somewhat imaginary plummet headfirst into the future. A truly brilliant narrative by a young artist about contemporary society.
"The conceptual "statement" or story behind the show is going largely to be revealed in the milk-crate of painted LP covers. the viewer will be invited to flip through the records; each will be painted with an image or two that helps tell the BRAIN VACATION story...the band, the kids, and the actual sounds of the music are all mysterious, undefined, and somewhat imaginary (we ARE talking about the future here). my way of showing this damned future as a sort of speculation comes in the form the subjects take...the viewer can "hear the future." i imagine they will be instantly repulsed by the noises and drawn in by bright colors and interesting pictures..."
Eric Baskauskas is an artist born in the Bay Area, who currently lives and works in San Diego.
