Yelling At Your Environment:
23 Post-Modern Voices

March 2008

The focus of the exhibit is in human reactions to urban existence. What does it mean to be human in the rapidly changing technological society of the twenty-first century? The 23 artists selected for this show offer a broad range of viewpoints on this issue. Many are mid-career, with extensive exhibition history, and several are emerging artists exploring a these issues in a fresh new way. One of the most important aspects of art is its ability to reflect our own society back to us in ways that help us understand our world. We believe that this will be an exciting and thought provoking show.

After exhibits at the South African Embassy in Washington D.C., and in New York, Harrington Arts was asked to show the exhibit in California. The vast collection included works on paper, paintings, sculpture, and mixed media.

Images of Human Rights Portfolio
2001 to Present

This art project was organized to celebrate South Africa’s Bill of Rights. It is an outstanding example of the blending of art and language. A cross-section of South African artists from different backgrounds and locations were chosen by their regional galleries to create a black and white print image of one of the twenty-seven clauses of the Bill of Rights. These twenty-seven prints were produced in a limited edition of fifty portfolios, along with end papers, documentations, and a forward by Bishop Desmond M. Tutu. As a special honor, the portfolio was shown in the rotunda of City Hall in San Francisco. It is still available to be seen in our Napa Gallery by appointment.
